I’ve decided to cover three Charlie Parker tracks for this project. I hope to combine recordings of the saxophone in the studio with my own production from home.
Currently, I have both Yardbird Suite and Ornithology lined up for the tracklist as I’m familiar with those pieces already. Yardbird seems like it would go really well with a lo-fi hip-hop instrumental given all its extended chords. As for Ornithology, I feel as though a Drum and Bass track would be fun to record. I’m unsure at the moment what the third track will be and what genre it will fit into.
One thing to keep in mind is the key signature of each piece. Both Yardbird Suite and Ornithology include the note G natural (Bb concert) in their scales. Unfortunarely, said note will not wirk properly on my saxophone, which means I will need to find a suitable key that does not feature that note.
